The Saga of Blood is a character-driven story setting. In other words, tales set in the Saga of Blood universe should (in my opinion, of course) focus on its inhabitants - those striving to live their lives in a chaotic world that is one part science fiction and one part fantasy. Be they humans or blood mutants, Hunters or helpers, the newly-transformed or the long-ago-changed, characters are what keep the Saga of Blood flowing.

Main Characters are named blood mutants and other notable individuals appearing in one or more tales. The Supporting Cast consists of unnamed characters or those whose stories have yet to be told.

Aimee
When she was sixteen years old, Aimee was transformed by the blood of a naga following a disasterous camping trip with several friends. Rather than return home, she took to a nomadic life, devoting herself to hunting down and killing all monsters so that others might not suffer as she had. Aimee lived this way for three years, before stumbling upon and ultimately rescuing a chimaera blood mutant by the name of Tara. Together, she and Aimee co-founded the refuge for blood mutants known as Haven, and eventually Aimee learned that there were better ways to make a difference than through the shedding of blood. Aimee has a naturally pessimistic personality, but is strong-willed and honorable, always standing by her friends.

Angelina
Angelina is a mermaid blood mutant. Due to the nature of her transformation, Angelina can only breathe underwater. Thus, while on land, she remains confined to a large tank of water converted into a wheeled cart. She has a voracious appetite for knowledge, but must rely on the assistance of the other members of her 'Blood Tribe' to help her satisfy that appetite.

Dan
Dan never forgot the day his father was killed by the black alicorn, a monstrous winged unicorn that terrorized the region for years. One day, Dan got a chance to avenge his father's murder. But with what price would vengeance come?

Daniel
Daniel (no relation to the dragon blood mutant of the same name) is a recent victim of the blood of a beholder. At first, Daniel considered death to be the only escape from his metamorphic curse. But after coming to know the other members of the Blood Tribe, Daniel has realized that he is far better off than he could have been.

Daniel
Technically speaking, Daniel was the first inhabitant of Haven. He and his parents discovered the complex while fleeing persecution, and an unfortunate encounter with a dragon left Daniel an orphan and a blood mutant. Aimee and Tara discovered the boy shortly after discovering the complex, and adopted him. Daniel is only seven years old, and has a child's characteristic optimism and naivety.

Gabrielle
Gabrielle was a Hunter whose primary duty was protecting her village. But a disastrous encounter with a wild hydra forced her into a new occupation. Despite having nine heads and eighteen pairs of eyes, Gabrielle has only one mind and one personality. Having gone from Hunter to hunted, Gabrielle is not quite sure what to do next.

Lacrimosa
Despite assumptions to the contrary, Lacrimosa does not wear a blindfold because she was blooded by a medusa. She was born blind, and has spent her entire life learning to live without sight… and coming to grips with being different than others. But as a member of the Blood Tribe, Lacrimosa has found a group of friends and companions who would never judge her for being out of the ordinary.

Miguel
No one in the Blood Tribe has ever heard the alicorn blood mutant Miguel speak. But despite his silence, Miguel has proven himself to be an important member of the Tribe on more than once occasion. Extremely strong, Miguel pulls the wheeled water tank that holds the mermaid blood mutant Angelina.

Mitch
Mitch was a teenager who sought an escape from the confines of his village. And he got his wish… but soon after, Mitch stumbled into a fight between a Hunter and a griffon, and ended up blooded. It took him a while to learn how to function in his new form, but Mitch persevered. He met an older blood mutant named Tim some time later, and the two eventually joined the population of Haven. Despite their differences, Mitch and Tim have remained good friends.

Selks
Selks had once been a miner, seeking his fortune in the gold mines to the north. But an encounter with a subterranean invisible stalker left Selks with a severe blood mutation. Only parts of his body are visible, and Selks normally wears as much clothing as possible, in order to define his mostly-absent body.

Tara
Tara was banished from her village following an attack by a chimaera that left her blooded. She was rescued by Aimee, and the two girls became friends almost immediately. The two discovered Haven, and it was Tara who gave the refuge its name. Tara is a highly optimistic girl, and contrary to appearances, insists that she only has one personality.

Tim
Tim is a hippogriff blood mutant who ran into Mitch some time after the younger boy's mutation. Tim had always dreamed of being able to fly, and did not take well to the fact that Mitch had wings and he didn't. But despite their differences, Tim and Mitch have remained steadfast friends.

Urizo
No one knows the story behind the mysterious figure known only as Urizo. He claims to hunt a "shadowy beast," and seems to be half-shadow himself. But thus far, no one has worked up the courage to inquire into his origin.

The Blood Tribe
Blood mutants are feared far more often than they are embraced. The live of an average blood mutant is one filled with persecution and self-loathing. Nonetheless (or maybe because of this), blood mutants have a tendency to band together whenever possible. Whether it is a matter of safety in numbers, or a longing for kindred spirits, gatherings of blood mutants such as the self-named Blood Tribe are almost as common as solitary blood mutants.
