Chapter 4
Pop Goes the Chimera!
Silence dove right while Eco jumped on top of the building they had hidden behind and shot three arrows into the chimera's hide. The giant beast roared with pain. Robert, the dragon-blooded man, flew left of the building and was holding an axe he had found laying on the ground.
Silence landed on a windowsill, holding on a shutter to keep from falling. He searched his surroundings and got familiar with them. As he did this, the chimera spewed flames at the structure they had used for cover. Nothing was left standing and Eco was now perched on a tree top. Silence nodded, satisfied that he knew his battle ground and fell from the windowsill and landed on the ground without discomfort.
Robert was now assaulting the great beast with his axe. The chimera tried desperately to grab him with the fangs of its serpentine tail, but failed miserably. Silence sighed and started to run toward the beast.
Finally, the monster got a luck shot off, hitting Robert with the rock-hard skull of its snake-like tail. Robert crashed through a house and didn't return. “My turn,” Silence said as he reached the chimera's legs and jumped high into the air. He could see Eco jumping from tree to tree, shooting arrows and gracefully dodging flames. Silence came dropped atop the monster's back, pulled out his katana, located the spine and slashed.
The chimera roared as his entire lower body went limp, and dead. Its legs collapsed and the cobra tail fell to the ground. The monstrosity threw flames everywhere with both of its massive heads.
Silence felt as though an earthquake had erupted under his feet. He lost his footing and fell off the beast's back. He landed on his feet of course, and jumped out of the way of the chimera's great paw, but didn't dodge the flames. They engulfed his entire lower body minus his left leg from the knee down. He fell to the ground, shock consumed him. He couldn't move, couldn't even yell out a scream of pain.
The monstrosity turned to him. Eco screamed, tears running down her face, shooting arrows frantically. They met there target but the chimera didn't care. It opened both its titanic mouths; the faint glow of flames illuminated its throats. Silence thought it was the end.
Suddenly, something flew through the sky at alarming speed and rammed two iron poles through the chest of the monster. It was Robert! “Go to Hell!” The poles had ruptured the napalm in the beasts flame pouch.
The beast snapped its mouths shut in recoil, and its chest exploded. Heat washed over Silence as he drifted into darkness, Eco and Robert where soon by his side.
